In this lesson I’ll teach you how to represent a RSS button.

Firstly we need to create a new file (File>New) of 512×512 px and 72 dpi. Place there a rectangle that may be made with the Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) (radius of 25px)

RSS button

The rectangle should have the next indicated Blending Options>Gradient Overlay parameters by making a mouse click on this layer on the layers’ panel.

You’ll get the next picture:

Then we have to make another rectangle that will be placed the same way as below:

Set next demonstrated Blending Options>Color Overlay.

Do the same operation we did with the previous rectangles: Blending Options>Gradient Overlay

Now we’ve got the picture that is shown below:

Take the Ellipse Tool (U) and try to make a black circle placing it the same way you may see below:

Set the transparency level demonstrated next table:

Select also Blending Options>Stroke.

… and we’ve got the next circle:

This way it’s possible to represent the rest of the elements, demonstrated on the next picture:

RSS button

Mark out all the layers on the layers’ palette containing the circles, putting them all together into a single one (Ctrl+E). After that we’ll select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to erase the unnecessary elements as it is demonstrated below:

RSS button

Make a copy of the orange rectangle (Ctrl+J) to insert a highlight there. Make the copy smaller a little (Ctrl+T) and finally move off and make some corrections the element’s tops, applying the Pen Tool (P).

RSS button

Fill 0% on the layers’ panel, giving the next properties for the layer Blending Options>Gradient Overlay:
