Harman Kardon Stereo System

Harman Kardon Stereo System
In this tutorial we will design an stereo system.

The next lesson I’ll show you how to represent an acoustic system (sub buffer and several music boxes). Let’s begin by creating a new file of 1024×768 px and 72 dpi.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Take the Rectangle Tool (U) and represent a square and several rectangles as the next picture shows it:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Select then the Ellipse Tool (U) and make an ellipse which should be placed on the upper part of the upper rectangle.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Select now the Blending options>Gradient Overlay and set the same parameters shown below.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Press Alt button and make a left mouse’s click between the layers. It’ll help hiding a part of our ellipse, where it crosses the square. We’ll have only that part which gets on the square. As a result we’ll have such a nice flare, like that one from below:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Try to represent several more ellipses:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Apply for them the same parameters of Blending options>Gradient Overlay we used when creating the first one:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Press Alt button to combine the layers, applying the same method. It’s important for each ellipse to be situated above its figure on the layers.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

The flare on the left music box we’ll represent by another method. Select firstly the Rectangle Tool (U) and represent two rectangles. Firstly press the Shift button to create the first rectangle and then – the second, for both of them to be on the same layer.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Now it’s time to select the Ellipse Tool (U) and press Alt button to represent a circle, the way it is shown below:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Blending Options>Gradient Overlay:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Start representing the loud speakers. Take the Ellipse Tool (U) and create a circle the way it is shown next picture:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Represent one more circle inside the first one:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Another one should be made inside:

Now we have to make a copy of the last layer and make the layer smaller, as it is demonstrated below:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Another circle we’ll make inside the last one:

Blending Options>Inner Glow:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Make the corrections on the last circle and make it smaller also:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Try to represent now two circles on the same layer (make the first one and then press the Shift button to represent the second one, colored with #DB7E52)

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Hold on Alt button to make a click between the layers.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Let’s make one more circle on the central part of the picture, the same way it is shown next image:

The loud speaker is finished. The only thing we have to make also is turning it tight with screws. Let’s start creating them. Create firstly a circle the way it is shown next image:

The Pen Tool (P) will be helpful in picturing an octagon:

The screw is ready to be copied and placed the way you may see on the next picture:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

No we’ll make a copy of our loud speaker, make the copy smaller and place it on the lateral music boxes.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Make a copy now of the circle with metal texture and place it like in the next picture and create one more circle inside the first one.

Picture out more smaller circle with the color’s code #5D5F5E, placing it as in the next picture:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Now we have to make one more layer on which we’ll put several spots, colored with #DADADA, as the next picture indicates it:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Press Alt button and make a mouse’s click between the spots’ layer and the circle’s one:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Set the rivets now:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Next we’ll just make a copy of the loud speaker and change the copy’s inside part with that loud speaker we’ve represented at the beginning. Place it on the upper music box, as on the next picture:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

We have to represent another loud speaker. Make a copy of the metallic circle:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Represent one more circle inside the first one:

Blending Options>Gradient Overlay:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Blending Options>Stroke:

It’s necessary to create one more circle:

Blending Options>Stroke:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Make a copy of the spots’ layer we did earlier and press the Alt button while making a click between the layers.

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Set the rivets on their places and make a copy of the new loud speaker, the same way indicated below:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Make one more copy which must be placed on the right music box, but we also have to enlarge the metallic texture:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Next stage includes representing the sub buffer’s grating. It’s necessary to create one big circle on the entire loud speaker’s surface with the Ellipse Tool (U). Press Shift button to represent several smaller circles. We’ll use also the Patch Selection Tool (A) to move them where necessary. We have to select also the Polygon Tool (U) to represent four pentagons by the edges while pressing Shift button.

Give some volume to the grating: Blending Options>Bevel and Emboss

Insert the shadow Blending Options>Drop Shadow:

Harman Kardon Stereo System

Place the screws on the edges and the grating is finished!

Harman Kardon Stereo System

We can represent a kind of reflection also, just to make the picture nicer. In this case we’ll choose the appropriate instrument when using the Shift button to represent by one rectangle under each music box:

That’s it! The lesson is finished. Good luck and success with your inspiration!
