The Effie Award is a prestigious award in our industry because it honors the one truly
significant achievement in advertising: Results. The Effies recognize creative ideas and communications mediums that

Forty years, 40 programs, one effective idea.
Forty years strong, the Effie brand continues to evolve globally, thanks to our industry’s
ongoing support, ideas and hard work. The first offshore Effie program was Germany’s, founded in 1981. Today, the
Effies celebrate marketing communications effectiveness through 38 national programs and two continent-wide competitions some
25 of these began during the past eight years.

In 2008, the Asia-Pacific Effie Awards (APAC) made an impressively strong debut. The APAC Effies
adopted a country vs. country “best-of-the-best” competition model. The 150 entries came from 18 countries, 12 from nations which don’t yet have a
national Effie program.

The APAC Effies coincided with another important development-the inaugural World Effie Festival, held in Singapore this past February. This global
celebration of effectiveness and creativity drew more than 1,300 participants in its first year. It featured some of the most successful leaders, icons and revolutionaries in
communications worldwide, who presented compelling thought catalyst addresses and master classes on topics such as communications effectiveness in the future and how
to build an effectiveness culture.

Twenty-five Effie-winning campaigns from around the world were also showcased, and the Global Effie awards were given to transborder campaigns
from Vaseline, Dove and Kellogg’s Special K. We encourage you to join us for next year’s conference.
